At the time I think Italy was the only place where there was an understanding that this Culture, aerosol, is deeper than the myths constructed around the word graffiti...
— P.H.A.S.E. 2
In 1984, while the first breakers in Milan gathered at the Muretto, a place destined to become a key spot for the Italian Hip Hop scene, P.H.A.S.E. 2 was painting in Quattordio. The occasion was provided by Arte di Frontiera - New York Graffiti, an exhibition conceived and organized by Francesca Alinovi. From that initial encounter, his presence in Italy became a constant throughout the 1990s, a period marked by significant ferment and rapid evolution of the Italian Hip Hop scene. The first conventions began to create synergies between different cities, and P.H.A.S.E. 2 moved along these trajectories. He collaborated on records destined to become milestones, wrote for the main independent publications of the time, and designed graphics for numerous events, demonstrating a comprehensive commitment.
In 1996, his most important and valuable work, Style: Writing from the Underground - (R)evolution of Aerosol Linguistics, was published. The book, released by Stampa Alternativa in association with IGTimes, has become a fundamental document on the history of style writing. His last appearance in Italy was in 2012, for Frontier — La linea dello stile. The project, curated by Claudio Musso and Fabiola Naldi, ideally and historically connects to the Arte di Frontiera exhibition, right where it all began.
P.H.A.S.E. 2's time in Italy is presented in a chronological sequence that highlights his impact and experiences in our country. The timeline explores each phase of his journey through the contributions and testimonies of the key people involved during those years.

KILL THA G WORD
The italian years of P.H.A.S.E. 2
"Kill Tha G Word - The Italian Years of P.H.A.S.E. 2” pays tribute to Phase 2's battle to abolish the term Graffiti, a label imposed by the media in the '70s on the emerging writing movement, of which he was a founding father and innovator.
The book takes us on a journey through major Italian cities, showcasing photos, drawings, graphics, and notes from the artist, spanning from 1984 to his last appearance in 2012. This valuable material has been made available thanks to contributions from key figures in the Italian Hip Hop scene, who have shared their memories and testimonies.
